Cookies Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies Speedi uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It applies to speeditrades.com, speedi.co.uk, and any related Speedi web properties.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember things about your visit — like whether you're logged in, or whether you've accepted a banner. We also use similar technologies like local storage, which work the same way for our purposes.
The cookies we use
1. Essential cookies (always on)
These keep Speedi working. Without them, you can't log in, stay logged in, or use the platform safely. We don't ask for consent for these because the site can't function without them.
- Authentication cookies — keep you signed in to your account. Set by NextAuth, our authentication system. Cleared when you log out or after the session expires.
- CSRF protection cookies — protect against cross-site request forgery attacks when you submit forms.
- Consent cookie (
speedi-consent) — remembers your choice on the cookie banner so we don't ask you again every visit. Stored for 6 months.
2. Analytics cookies (optional — only with your consent)
If you accept analytics on the cookie banner, we load Vercel Analytics. This helps us understand how Speedi is being used — which pages are visited, how the site performs, where things break — so we can make it better.
- Vercel Analytics is privacy-friendly by design: it doesn't use third-party advertising cookies, doesn't track you across other websites, and doesn't sell your data.
- Data collected is anonymised and aggregated. We can see things like “100 people visited the homepage today,” not “Alex from Lancashire visited at 9:42am.”
- If you reject analytics, the script is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
What we don't do
- We don't run advertising cookies.
- We don't sell your data to third parties.
- We don't track you across other websites.
- We don't use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or similar ad tech.
Your choices
You have full control over non-essential cookies:
- The banner— when you first visit Speedi, you'll see a banner asking whether to allow analytics. You can Accept or Reject. Both choices are equally easy to make.
- Change your mind — you can update your choice at any time by clicking “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page.
- Browser controls — you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking essential cookies will stop Speedi from working properly.
Do we use cookies on the Speedi mobile app?
The Speedi mobile app (for tradespeople) doesn't use web cookies — it uses secure on-device storage to keep you logged in. Permissions for things like push notifications and location are handled separately by your phone's operating system.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new analytics tool or change how something works. If the change is significant, we'll re-prompt you on the banner so you can review your choice.
